Churn analytics

Rank churn reasons by the MRR behind them

Not every cancellation costs the same. ChurnIntel joins cancellation survey answers to Stripe subscription revenue so you see which reasons destroy the most recurring revenue — not just which reasons get picked most often.

What Stripe does not tell you

Stripe records who cancelled and how much MRR left with them. It does not record why they left unless you use the customer portal's fixed reason list — and even then, Stripe does not rank those reasons by revenue or connect them to retention offer outcomes.

ChurnIntel fills that gap for teams running an embedded cancellation flow.

Revenue-weighted cancellation reasons

Losing one customer at $2,000/month and ten customers at $20/month are not the same problem. ChurnIntel ranks each cancellation reason by the recurring revenue attached to subscriptions that picked it, so the top of your list is the reason costing you the most.

This is reason ranking by lost MRR from your cancellation flow data — not a predictive churn model.

Offer accept rate

  • See which offers customers accept and decline, by reason.
  • Compare coupon vs pause vs plan switch performance.
  • Understand where save attempts work and where they do not.

Customer journey view

A Sankey chart shows how customers move from reason → offer → outcome (saved, paused, switched, cancelled). Use it to spot drop-off points in the flow and reasons where offers never land.

Export and feed other tools

  • CSV export of cancellation responses.
  • Structured reason, free-text, offer shown, outcome, and subscription context.

ChurnIntel does not replace a full product analytics stack. It focuses on voluntary cancellation flow data tied to Stripe MRR.

Where the data comes from

Analytics are built from cancellation sessions run through the ChurnIntel widget, joined to Stripe subscription data synced via OAuth. If a customer cancels outside the flow (e.g. directly in Stripe dashboard), that cancellation may not include a survey reason.

What this is not

  • Not failed-payment or involuntary churn analytics — ChurnIntel focuses on voluntary cancellations in the flow.
  • Not a general BI tool — reporting is scoped to cancellation reasons, offers, and outcomes.
  • No published customer benchmarks or industry averages — we do not have data to support those.

Questions

How is this different from Stripe's cancellation reports?+

Stripe shows cancellations and MRR movement. ChurnIntel adds your custom survey reasons, the offers shown, accept/decline outcomes, and ranks reasons by lost MRR from flow data.

Do I need the cancellation flow running to get analytics?+

Yes. Analytics come from sessions where customers interact with the ChurnIntel widget. The more cancellations go through the flow, the more complete the picture.

Can I export data for analysis in a spreadsheet?+

Yes. CSV export is available for cancellation responses.

Does ChurnIntel predict future churn?+

No. It reports on voluntary cancellations that went through your flow, ranked by revenue. It is diagnostic reporting, not predictive scoring.
