Cancel Subscription Entry Points: Where Customers Find Exit
If customers cannot find cancel, they chargeback, dispute, or churn angry. Entry points are the links and buttons that start the voluntary exit — usually billing settings, account profile, or a Stripe portal deep link. They should be easy to find, not easy to mis-click.

Common locations
- Billing / subscription page — primary for B2B and prosumer SaaS
- Account settings footer — secondary link next to plan summary
- Stripe Customer Portal — when billing is fully hosted; use subscription_cancel deep links per Stripe docs
- In-app help — link to billing, not a maze of articles
Labeling
Use plain language: “Cancel subscription” or “Manage subscription” that leads to cancel. Avoid euphemisms that feel like dark patterns. When you skip save offers for some segments, say so in the flow — when to skip retention offers.
Deep link from email or support
For custom flows, send customers to your in-app route. For portal-only teams, create a portal session with cancel flow data — covered in build a Stripe cancellation flow.
