Revoke Team Access When a Subscription Cancels
Multi-seat SaaS products must decide what happens to invited users when the paying account cancels. Leaving ghost logins active is a security risk; cutting access without warning creates support escalations.
Offboarding checklist: SaaS customer offboarding. High-touch accounts: high-value customer cancellation flow.

When to revoke access
Webhook reconciliation: Stripe cancellation webhooks.
- Match product access to Stripe subscription status via webhooks — not only UI cancel click
- For period-end cancel, document whether members keep access until deleted event
- Send admin a summary of seats removed
Admin vs member experience
| Role | Typical behavior |
|---|---|
| Billing admin who canceled | Retains export window; loses admin billing UI |
| Non-admin members | Read-only or logout at access cutoff |
| SSO domains | Disable IdP-initiated login per your security policy |
Security checklist
- Invalidate API keys tied to the workspace
- Revoke OAuth tokens where applicable
- Audit shared integrations (Slack, webhooks) on cancel
- Log access removal for compliance requests — not legal advice
